NEW CASTLE — Melissa A. Amodie

•Don Miller of New Castle, charged by Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture with selling adulterated frozen dessert product.

The New Castle school district charged the following people:

•Tina Dawarel of New Castle, compulsory school attendance violation.

•Joseph Rogers, 45, of New Castle, compulsory school attendance violation.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•Matthew Malley, 35, of New Castle, driving under the influence and two counts of intent to possess a controlled substance.

•Jordan Lee Ott, 24, of Pulaski, driving under the influence, driving with license suspended and careless driving.

•Efrain Ortiz, 37, of New Castle, simple assault and harassment.

•James L. Jones, 42, of New Castle, flight to avoid apprehension, driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked, driving an unregistered vehicle and turning violation.

•Quentin Lamar Jones, 18, of New Castle, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

•John Carmen Nerti, 41, of New Castle, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehension and intent to posses a controlled substance.

•Phillip A. Wise, 24, of New Castle, disorderly conduct.

•Samantha Stoner, 21, of New Castle, disorderly conduct.

•Contrina D. Holmes, 36, of New Castle, harassment.

•Maurice Cartrell Moore, 28, of New Castle, simple assault and harassment.

•Christina Dawn Baxter, 35, of New Castle, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

•David Scott Ingram, 41, of New Castle, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

•Patricia Jo Edmunds, 39, of New Castle, simple assault and harassment.

•Jasmine Griffin, 23, of New Castle, traffic control device violation.

•Corbin Blake Partin, 23, of New Castle, three counts of arson, causing catastrophe, two counts of criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment.

State police charged the following people:

•Joshua Yakubik, 23, of New Castle, two counts of driving under the influence, plate violation, operating without required financial responsibility, stop sign violation, careless driving, failure to wear seat belt, operating vehicle without valid inspection, possession of marijuana and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Dalton Tyler Yaromey, 25, of Fombell, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Ellwood City police charged the following people:

•Joseph Theodore Stitt, 23, of Ellwood City, simple assault and harassment.

•Brian Richard Lumly, 42, of Ellwood City, simple assault and harassment.

•Dawn Catherine Dittmer, 39, of Ellwood City, simple assault and harassment.

•Nicholas Kudlac, 15, of Ellwood City, purchase of alcoholic beverage by a minor.

•Eduardo Aviles, 26, of Beaver Falls, criminal mischief and harassment.

•David Martin Kimmel, 23, of Ellwood City, intent to possess a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Joseph Thomas Shuttleworth, 23, of Ellwood City, intent to possess a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Donald Ray Frelin II, 22, of New Castle, intent to possess a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Aaron Robert Wischerman of New Castle, charged by state police with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse on person less than 16, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault on person less than 16.

  • Man sentenced after hotline calls lead to drug arrest

    A former Youngstown man, arrested after North Hill neighbors called the District Attorney’s Drug Hotline, has been sentenced. Rodney Bernard Madison, 37, formerly of Thornton Avenue, Youngstown, was sentenced to two to five years in the Lawrence County jail with credit for 732 days served, followed by two years probation.

  • Ellwood City club receives citation

    An Ellwood City club has been cited for gambling activities. The Pennsylvania Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited the Ellwood City Saxon Club at 901 Millview St.

  • Barletto.jpg Suspect in officer’s death jailed in county

    Kylee Gwen Barletto was composed walking into court Monday until a television reporter pelted her with questions. Escorted by two state troopers, she was asked, “What do you have to say to the police officer’s family?” “I’m sorry,” she uttered as she was ushered into the court lobby. Then she burst into tears.

  • brown.jpg Prosecutors granted stay in Jordan Brown decision

    A hearing on the status of a boy accused in a 2009 fatal shooting has been canceled. The hearing on 15-year-old Jordan Brown’s detention had been planned for Lawrence County Court today, but was canceled after prosecutors requested, and received, a stay in the proceedings.

    Kylee Barletto was arraigned this morning by District Judge Jerry Cartwright. She is being lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $250,000 bond. Barletto, 25, is charged with homicide by vehicle and 14 other counts in the May 2 death of Shenango Township police officer William J. McCarthy IV.
