Man who pleaded to indecent assault is sentenced

NEW CASTLE — A Mercer County man who pleaded no contest to indecent assault of a child has been sentenced to prison.

Wayne Edward McNutt, 47, of Transfer, Pa., was sentenced to serve five to 10 years in a state correctional facility followed by 10 years state-supervised probation. He received credit for 138 days served.

In imposing the sentence this week, Lawrence County President Judge Dominick Motto recommended that McNutt undergo appropriate sex offender treatment while incarcerated.

McNutt was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and to provide a DNA sample. The court further noted that McNutt must meet Megan’s Law obligations.

McNutt is accused of sexually molesting a 5-year-old Volant girl on Jan. 7, 2010.

He pleaded no contest to aggravated indecent assault of a child. Pennsylvania state police had initially also charged him with indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.
