New Castle police charged the following people:

•Tristan M. Morgan, 27, of Detroit, criminal trespass, simple assault, public drunkenness and similar misconduct and criminal mischief.

•Edward Robert Nikoden, 45, of New Castle, simple assault and harassment.

•Carmen Marie Ferris, 53, of New Castle, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

•Elizabeth Strohecker, 28, of New Castle, public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

•Mark Quear, 23, of New Castle, public drunkenness and similar misconduct and disorderly conduct.

•Mark A. Staph, 30, of New Castle, harassment and criminal mischief.

•Michael Ross Williams, 25, of New Castle, burglary and theft by unlawful taking.

•Christopher Michael Pagley, 27, of New Castle, burglary, two counts of conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

State police charged the following people:

•Douglas Arthur Hazen, 46, of Wampum, three counts of simple assault, two counts of terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

•Randy Alexander Mulig, 22, of Ellwood City, criminal attempt and loitering and prowling at night.

•Todd Alan Zimmerman, 48, of Wampum, simple assault and harassment.

Ellwood City police charged the following people:

•Lindsay M. Warner, 21, of Ellwood City, theft by unlawful taking.

•Jason Gabriel Moczan, 28, of Fombell, two counts of driving under the influence.

•Angela R. Kirkland, 44, of New Castle, charged by New Castle police with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

•Michael James Yesko, 23, of New Castle, charged by Union Township police with three counts of retail theft and two counts of receiving stolen property.

State police charged the following people:

•Thomas P. Brown, 33, of Volant, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and hindering apprehension or prosecution.

•Amber Brown, 32, of Volant, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Shenango Township police charged the following people:

•Jorden T. Streckeisen, 14, of New Castle, disorderly conduct.

•Jacob A. Gravatt, 20, of New Castle, purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

•Sean Bryson, 19, of Beaver Falls, purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

•Derek S. Douglas, 19, of Darlington, purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

•Brandon M. Lilly, 24, of Beaver Falls, selling or furnishing liquor to a minor.

Scott A. McGrath

•Kyle Graham Smedi, 22, of Cortland, Ohio, charged by Pulaski Township police with driving under the influence, intent to possess a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and improper fastening of load.

•Michael Todd Brown Jr., 24, of New Castle, charged by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission with violation of rules and regulations for required equipment.

  • jail.jpg Inmate files federal suit for alleged beating

    A Lawrence County jail inmate is accusing corrections officers of abusing and mistreating him after his arrest. An attorney for Scott J. Lauderbaugh Jr., 29, of Mercer filed a lawsuit Friday in U.S. District Court against five corrections officers, alleging they violated Lauderbaugh’s civil rights by beating up on him “maliciously and sadistically” upon his admittance to the jail Feb. 5.

    An attorney defending a pain management doctor claims his client dispensed prescriptions within the parameters of the law. A Pennsylvania attorney general’s deputy said she intends to prove that 61-year-old Dr. Van Edward Scott had prescribed powerful and highly addictive drugs to at least eight patients in Lawrence County and that he prescribed the drugs to three patients who were drug-dependent.

  • Barletto.jpg Kylee Barletto Hearing: Judge lowers bond for woman accused in Shenango officer’s death

    Charges against the woman accused of killing a Shenango Township policeman have been held for court. However, bond for Kylee Gwen Barletto, 26, of 693 Hoover Road was lowered, with the condition she be placed under house arrest if she is released.
