On the Record: Today’s police items and district judge reports

NEW CASTLE — Police

STATE


•Accident. Police said David M. Brandt, 18, of Wampum, northbound on Route 168, New Beaver Borough at 7:50 a.m. Jan. 23, lost control of his Jeep and failed to negotiate a curve on the slippery road. Officers said the Jeep left the road, hit a ditch and rolled over. Police said Brandt sustained a minor injury and was taken to Ellwood City Hospital. Two passengers reported no injuries. Officers said all three had been wearing seat belts. Police were assisted by the New Beaver Borough Volunteer Fire Department. Brandt was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•Gary Clark, 40, of New Castle, arrest prior to requisition.

•Kenneth John Kelly, 49, of New Castle, two counts of simple assault and one count each of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.

•Brian Dale Lewis, 51, of New Castle, recklessly endangering another person, making false reports, reckless driving, accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property and careless driving.

•Michael L. Hill, 42, of New Castle, two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of open lewdness, failure to obey traffic control devices and careless driving.

•Douglas J. Surowiec, 47, of New Castle, public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

•James R. Scott Jr., 37, of New Castle, two counts each of forgery and theft by deception and one count each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

•Brian P. Koszela, 54, of New Castle, public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

Ellwood City police charged the following people:

•Jeffrey C. Brown, 53, of Ellwood City, accident involving damage to attended vehicle or property and driving with license suspended.

•Kassey Marie Locke, 23, of Ellwood City, use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Eric G. Francis, 39, of Ellwood City, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and intent to possess a controlled substance.

•Jesse Kuttler, 29, of Imperial, Pa., intent to possess a controlled substance.

•Ian Robert Columbo, 25, of New Castle, charged by Union Township police with simple assault, harassment, public drunkenness and similar misconduct and disorderly conduct.
