Ex-attorney waives new charges to court

NEW CASTLE — Disbarred attorney Michael A. Frisk Jr. Monday waived new theft-related charges to court.

Frisk, 35, formerly of Ellwood City and now serving time in the Lawrence County jail, is charged with forgery, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds. He represented himself Monday.

According to court records, these charges stem from him allegedly taking money from an Allegheny County client by telling the client criminal charges would be dismissed if restitution totaling $1,143 was paid. The client allegedly give Frisk a check in that amount, but charges in the case were not dismissed. The client eventually contacted police.

Frisk is serving a jail term of seven to 14 months after being sentenced in January in four similar cases.
