Drug charges dismissed

NEW CASTLE — Charges were dismissed this week for four people arrested in a Union Township drug raid.

District Judge David Rishel, presiding in central court, dismissed charges against Ronald Clark II, 40, and Kijhana Daniel Cummings, 39, both of New Castle, and Michael Scott Cottrill, 24, of West Middlesex and Ashley Ostrawski, 24, of Sharon.

No reason was provided for the dismissals.

However, New Castle police anticipate refiling all charges.

All four were facing multiple drug charges as well as endangering the welfare of children. In addition, Clark was facing a gun charge.

Clark and Cummings had been in the Lawrence County jail, unable to post $25,000 bonds.  They were released Wednesday. The other two had been released earlier after posting bonds — $10,000 for Cottrill and $5,000 for Ostrawski.

According to court documents, the four were taken into custody after the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task force executed a sealed search warrant at 27 Spring St. Officers entered the house at 6:30 a.m. May 22.

Using dogs to search the house, police allegedly found suspected heroin, marijuana and powdered cocaine, pills, steroids and $1,000.

Documents said a 4-year-old girl found in the house was turned over to Lawrence County Children and Youth Services.

Are you concerned enough about the Heartbleed bug on the Internet to change all of your social media and website passwords?

Yes. It’s always a good idea to change passwords regularly anyway. I just have so many, I’m not sure where to start.
No. From what I’ve read, companies are still trying to figure out how to fix the flaw. The bad guys will just have access to my NEW passwords, too.
Not sure, but I blame Al Gore. He invented the Internet, right? How’s he going to get us out of this mess?
