Former vo-tech worker’s hearing delayed

NEW CASTLE — A preliminary hearing for Chastity Williams, former assistant business manager at the county vo-tech school, is being rescheduled.

The proceeding was scheduled for central court Thursday, but was continued at the request of the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office.

A new time and date have not been set.

Williams, 37, of Union Township is facing theft-related charges for allegedly taking more than $92,000 from the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center in unauthorized overtime pay.

Alleged discrepancies in her pay were uncovered by a forensic audit that had been ordered by the center’s joint operating committee. That panel hired auditors Zelenkofske-Axelrod of Wexford in October to examine records from March 1, 2010, through Aug. 30, 2013.
