On the Record: Today's births, police items, and district judge reports

To Kristin McMahan of Ellwood City, a daughter on Dec. 29, 2013.

To Amanda Catron of Bessemer, a daughter on Dec. 30, 2013.

 

Police

STATE

•Accident. About 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on Shaffer Road, Slippery Rock Township. Police said Benjamin R. Stiffler, 31, of Ellwood City was westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree.

•Burglary. Someone broke into a home on Reese Road in Scott Township between Dec. 20 and 22 and took several guns.

•Scattering rubbish. Someone threw trash on a lawn on Tradewinds Road in North Beaver Township Friday or Saturday.

•Accident. Police said Robert L. Sedgwick, 65, of Wampum was traveling on Portersville Road near Armstrong Road in Perry Township about 1 p.m. Dec. 14 when he braked abruptly for an accident and was struck by a car driven by Austin A. Berezniak, 19, of Ellwood City. Police cited Berezniak with failing to drive at a safe speed.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•John Lavell Hawkins, 26, of New Castle, disorderly conduct.

•Lawrence James Jones Jr., 21, of New Castle, simple assault and harassment.

•Edward Robert Lyles III, 28, of New Castle, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intent to possess a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and improper display of license plate.

•Waverly Torrale Primm, 26, of New Castle, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intent to possess a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

New Castle’s code enforcement department charged the following:

•Jacob Barnes, 30, of New Castle, accumulation of rubbish or garbage.

•Jennifer Altman, of New Castle, sidewalks and driveways violation and weeds, trees and ornamental shrubs violation.

•Mims Realty of New Castle, exterior walls violation and accessory structures violation.

•Jessica Landall of Chula Vista, Calif., three counts of vacant land and structures violation.

•Lindsay B. Gagliordi, 34, of New Castle, charged by Shenango Township police with theft by unlawful taking.
