Gary Church: Get that weak stuff outta here, Malik!

NEW CASTLE — I was excited when I heard the Ne-Ca-Hi boys basketball team was going to be at the New Castle News.

It never entered my mind to stand in line and get an autograph. I just wanted to pop in and say "Hi."

This changed when a friend of mine called and wanted me to get two basketballs signed by the team for her grandchildren.

Like a lot of other people, she thought I had some pull at The News office, and could get the balls signed right away.

If there is one thing I don't have, it's pull at The News.

I got in line, and waited 40 minutes to finally get to see the team.

My wife must have had more influence than me, because she was way ahead of me in line.

It wasn't the waiting in line that was so bad — it was the ribbing I took from the rest of The News employees.

When I finally got within sight of the boys, I was informed that I was needed to go take a photo of a fire.

I sensed this was just a way to get me out of line, and I would have to start all over again.

I didn't budge.

The first team member in line to sign autographs was Malik Hooker.

When I handed him a ball to sign, News photographer Tiffany Wolfe asked me if I wanted my picture taken for The News’ Facebook page.

Why not?

I asked Malik to act like he was going to shoot the ball, and I stuffed him. Tiffany did her thing with the camera.

The other guys got a little kick out of that.

I will have to say, the New Castle Boys Basketball team is a very personable group.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet them.

I just hope Malik doesn't have nightmares about getting stuffed by the old guy in the garden department.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
