Gary Church: Difficulty with Mexican food? Runs in the jeans ... er, genes

NEW CASTLE — When we go to Sharon, I enjoy having lunch at Nikos and Lou's Coney Island.

My wife finally put her foot down, and wanted to eat somewhere else for a change.

She suggested Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Having the sensitive digestive system that I do, I usually avoid spicy Mexican food.

Since I am such a loveable pushover, I agreed to bow down to her highness, and eat there.

When I walked in, I didn't have a clue what was going on.

It was like a buffet of strange looking stuff that didn't look familiar to me.

How do you choose what you want when you don't recognize anything sitting in front of you?

I mentioned this to the first guy in line behind the counter.

He was very kind and gently led me through the process.

The only Mexican word I know is "taco," so I ordered three of them.

Then they asked me what kind of meat do I want.

I thought a taco was a taco. I never had to choose what kind of hot dog I wanted at Niko and Lou's.

They explained that the steak was hot, so I didn't try that.

I had a chicken taco, a pork one, and only the good Lord knows what the third thing was I ate.

While eating, I looked around the room and noticed that I could be the grandfather to all the other patrons.

I should have realized it was a young person’s hangout, because all the disabled parking places were empty.

It must be a fairly popular place. There were at least 15 people waiting in line.

I also noticed I was the only guy in a flannel shirt.

That sort of made me feel out of place.

My wife and I both agreed this wasn't our kind of food, so we will probably never go back.

I don't know what the word Chipotle means, but I bet it has something to do with the bathroom.

Would you want to know what your pet is thinking about you?

Yes! I'd love to know what my pet is thinking.
Nah, it's probably not that interesting.
I don't know. I'm afraid of what I might find out.
