Gary Church: A REAL buffet for Father’s Day? Now that’s saying a mouthful!

NEW CASTLE — My favorite thing about Mother’s Day is the buffet.

I can do some real damage with a nice spread of food laid out before me.

A good, homemade buffet can't be beat.

I just don't understand why on Father’s Day, you can't find a restaurant offering a vast array of men's food.

Fruits and salads are nice, but only if you are into those kinds of things, which I'm not.

You can't offer the same food on Father’s Day that you would on Mother's Day.

For Father’s Day, how about a nice display of wings, ribs, beef tips, steaks, fried chicken, ham, pasta, and real mashed potatoes and gravy.

Cake or pie for dessert, with some ice cream, would be great.

There is no need for the restaurant to waste its time with salads, cole slaw, fruit trays, or vegetables.

Men just eat different food than women.

A few years ago, I went to a Father's Day buffet in Ohio, and it was a complete flop.

The food was delicious, but no one showed up to eat it.

I think it has become customary for Dad to do the grilling on Father’s Day.

This custom needs to change.

Mom doesn't cook on Mother’s Day, so why should dads?

Another custom may be that the wife prepares Dad his favorite meal on Father's Day.

She has 364 other days to do that, so let him pig out at a buffet.

I bet you ladies are thinking, "We wouldn't eat a buffet full of meats."

On your day, you can eat what you like, and on our day, we'll eat what we like.

You won't hear us complaining.

Well, you may hear us complain a little when we can't get out of the chair afterward.

Definitely! I've already got my tickets.
Maybe. I'm not sure.
Nah, it's not for me.
