NEW CASTLE —
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 1 cup water, with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil added to it
Food coloring, added to the water
Place the flour in a deep saucepan and mix with dry ingredients. Gradually add the colored water mixture, stirring while mixing, until it is smooth.
Place pan on medium-high burner and cook, stirring constantly, for about five minutes, until stiff.
The modeling compound can be turned onto a paper plate and will be soft, firm and pliable when it cools.
