NEW CASTLE —
Mohawk High senior Hunter Hill is pursuing a state title this weekend.
Earlier this year, Hunter was named Lawrence County’s first Distinguished Young Woman. Now, she is in Johnstown hoping to claim the Pennsylvania crown as well.
She will be competing in the same categories as she did in the local program: talent, scholarship, self-expression, fitness and interview. She will be doing a gymnastics routine to the song “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” for her talent presentation.
In addition to being named 2012 Lawrence County Distinguished Young Woman, Hunter also won the Fitness Award on the local level.
If she wins the state championship, she will advance to the national competition in Mobile, Ala., in June 2012, where more than $125,000 in scholarship money is given to the winners.
This is Pennsylvania’s 54th year for the Junior Miss/ Distinguished Young Woman Porgram.
Lawrence County’s Distinguished Young Woman/Lawrence County Junior Miss. Inc. chairperson is Rosanne C. Palladino.
