Girls Soccer: Neshannock falls to Seton-La Salle
The Neshannock High girls soccer team continued its progression this season. However, the Lady Lancers would have liked to advance deeper in the playoffs. Seton-La Salle prevented that as it scored early and held on to upset Neshannock, 1-0, in a WPIAL Class A first-round game at Central Valley’s Sarge Alberts Stadium on Saturday.

Boys, Girls Soccer: Neshanock, Mohawk to open playoffs; Wilmington clinches region
The Neshannock and Mohawk girls soccer teams open their WPIAL Class A playoff bids Saturday. The Lady Lancers play Seton-La Salle at 2 p.m. at Central Valley, while the Lady Warriors take on Bishop Canevin at 2 p.m. at Upper St. Clair.

Cross Country: Laurel runners fare well
Laurel had a strong showing at the Freedom Invitational yesterday at Brush Creek Park. The Lady Spartans finished second at the event with a score of 73. Freeport finished first with 42. Bishop Canevin was third with 76.

Nothing came easy last night for the Ellwood City Lincoln High girls volleyball team. The Lady Wolverines battled for a 25-21, 33-31, 25-20 WPIAL Section 1-AA road victory over Mohawk.

Girls Soccer: Wilmington girls shut out West Middlesex
The Wilmington High girls soccer team was locked in last night. The Lady Greyhounds didn’t allow a shot in a 4-0 victory at home against West Middlesex in District 10, Region 1-A action.

High School Golf: Neshannock’s Matt Cioffi advances to PIAA Championship
Neshannock High’s Matt Cioffi is headed to state. Cioffi, a senior, finished with a six-over par 72 at the PIAA West Individual Regional yesterday to advance to the PIAA Individual Championship.

The Neshannock High boys soccer team closed its season on a promising note despite a loss yesterday. The Lancers came up short in a nonsection home game against Central Valley, 2-1. Neshannock (5-12-1) is a Class A school, while Central Valley is a Class AA school.
