NEW CASTLE — Boys cross country

Kroner sets mark


Robbie Kroner rolled to a course-record finish for Neshannock in meets against Mohawk, South Side Beaver and Union.

Kroner won the race in 18:08.

Neshannock topped Mohawk (21-36) and Union (15-50), but lost to South Side Beaver (24-33). The Warriors lost to the Rams, 18-43.

The Lancers’ Matt Turner was fifth in 19:55 and Austin Moose took sixth in 20:51. Ron Calvert was 11th in 21:58 and Adam Alkhafaji took 19th in 23:49.

Sam Whippo finished seventh for Mohawk in 21:04 and David Kelty was ninth in 21:37. Jacob Hobel took 15th in 22:47, Dakota Lee was 17th in 23:28 and Matt Carran placed 18th in 23:49.

Adam Atwell placed third in the boys junior high race for the Lancers in 10:40 and Mohawk’s Matt Rudesill was seventh in 11:12.

Thomas shines

Wilmington’s Jared Thomas topped the field in a 15-50 verdict over Reynolds.

Thomas finished first in 18:36. Calvin Gealy placed third for the Greyhounds in 18:54 and Brett Whitty was fifth in 19:01.

Derek Craig was sixth for Wilmington in 19:33 and Zach Paden came in seventh in 19:54.

The Greyhounds’ Jake Burdett won the junior high race in 10:21.

Waldschmidt takes third

Shenango’s David Waldschmidt placed third in 17:57 against Beaver and Riverside.

The Wildcats’ Andy McCann was fourth in 18:00.

Shenango lost to Beaver (26-29), and beat Riverside, but a score wasn’t reported.

The Wildcats’ Matt Salem was third in the junior high race, but no time was available.

Blackwell delivers

New Castle’s soared past the field in a meet against West Allegheny. The Red Hurricane won, 22-39.

Blackwell won the race in 17:23.

Mike Mazzanti was fifth for the ’Canes in 18:27 and Alex Shepherd was 11th in 19:49. Chris Mazzanti (12th, 19:50) and Corey Niles (13th, 20:15) completed New Castle’s top five.

There was no junior high race.

Girls cross country

Brumbaugh wins


Wilmington’s Rikki Brumbaugh captured the race in a meet against Reynolds. The Lady Greyhounds won, 18-37.

Brumbaugh won the race in 21:04 and teammate Allison Baldwin was second in 22:03.

Hannah Winters placed fourth in 22:18, Hannah Drake was fifth in 23:36 and Kate Robb claimed sixth in 23:37.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
