NEW CASTLE — McGill takes seventh

Union’s Janis McGill was seventh in a meet against Beaver, South Side Beaver and Beaver Falls.

McGill tallied a time of 24:02.2. The Lady Scots forfeited against the field.

New Castle wins two

Andrea Lansdowne finished second against Montour and Central Valley, posting a time of 23:16.

The Lady ’Canes beat Montour (27-29) and Central Valley (18-40).

New Castle’s Caitlin Adamo was fourth in 24:57 and Rebecca Paul was fifth in 25:04. Rachel McNickle took eighth in 26:06 and Vanessa Turner placed 11th in 27:48.

There was no junior high race.

Maxwell wins

Emily Maxwell won the race against Mohawk and Riverside, rolling to a time of 20:17.08.

The Lady Spartans knocked off Mohawk (19-40) and Riverside (19-44). The Lady Warriors topped the Lady Panthers (19-38).

Alison Filer placed fourth for Laurel in 21:26 and Brooke Dicks was fifth in 21:54. Kristin Dicks took sixth in 22:24 and Kacee Caughey placed seventh in 22:42.

Breyonna Wagner paced Mohawk, finishing second in 20:25.27. Mackenzie Moon was ninth in 23:13, Katelyn Byers took 11th in 23:25 and Kelcey Seth finished 12th in 24:05. Joelle Bromley placed 13th in 24:06.

Laurel’s Cassie Patterson broke her own school mark in the junior high race. Patterson finished second in a time of 12:26.8, breaking her old record by 10 seconds.

Mohawk’s Shelby Scott finished 18th in 14:03.

Girls tennis

Neshannock falls

Beaver cruised to a 5-0 Section 2-AA victory over Neshannock at Brady’s Run.

The Lady Lancers (6-5, 7-5) still have a shot to reach the playoffs. Neshannock must beat Riverside today and have the Lady Panthers lose to Blackhawk on Friday.

The Lady Lancers lost to Riverside in the first meeting, 4-1. The Lady Panthers lost to Blackhawk in the first meeting as well.

“We need to win,” Neshannock coach Chuck Dess said. “It’s a definite possibility.

“We control our own destiny. We’ve gotten a lot better than we were a few weeks ago. We’ll see what happens.”

Boys soccer

Lancers lose

Sewickley Academy knocked off Neshannock, 6-0.

The Panthers led 3-0 at the half.

Josh Maggi made 27 saves in goal for the Lancers. Neshannock (1-6, 2-8-1) had three shots on goal.
