NEW CASTLE —
Shenango High’s boys golf team continued its strong late-season run yesterday.
The Wildcats placed second out of 27 rain-soaked teams at the Midwestern Athletic Conference championship at Fox Run Golf Course.
Blackhawk won the event with a score of 230. Shenango finished with a 235 to place second. Beaver Falls came in third, while Laurel and Neshannock tied for fourth at 245.
“I was quite pleased,” Shenango coach John Dado said. “There were some bigger schools there like Blackhawk, Central Valley and New Castle. We did pretty well.”
Beaver Falls’ Zach Miller won the individual title with a 72. The ’Cats’ Matt DeAngelo finished fourth overall with a 74. Teammate Lucas Villani shot a 78 to finish in ninth, while Darren Carone had an 83.
