Shenango places second
Matt DeAngelo fired a 78, propelling the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the High School Invitational at Tam O’ Shanter Golf Course.
Shenango recorded a 318. Butler won the seven-team event with a 317.
“There were some pretty good teams there. It was a little disappointing to come in second by just one shot,” Wildcats coach John Dado said. “The course was playing tough. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t easy for anyone.
“I thought Matt hung in there. I thought he played well. It was pretty tough putting on some of the greens.”
Darren Carone contributed a 79 for the Wildcats and Tyler Settle was next with an 80. Lucas Villani notched an 81.
Nick Peluso carded an 80 for Laurel, which finished fifth with a 330. Shane Wilson delivered an 82, Ben Armando posted an 83 and Cody Crawford chipped in with an 85.
Mike Maciarello paced Neshannock with a 77 and Matt Cioffi was next with an 85. Grant Weaver supplied an 87 and Marcus Giangiuli delivered a 91. The Lancers took sixth with a 340.
Union was seventh with a 350. Jacob Jendrysik posted an 84 and Joe Rossi followed with an 86. Cole Gorgacz recorded an 87 and Austin Burk tallied a 93.
Meadville was third with a 319 and Erie Strong Vincent took fourth with a 322.
