NEW CASTLE — Lady Lancers lose

Neshannock dropped a 17-25, 25-13, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12 nonsection match to visiting Rochester.

“We ran into a problem losing that second game,” Neshannock coach Andrew Frank said. “It really took the air out of us.”

Frank liked the way the Lady Lancers (8-6) competed going into their last two section games at home against Western Beaver and away at Union.

“It was good competition to prepare for our last two games,” Frank said “Our girls gave 100 percent and left it all on the floor at the end.”

The Lady Lancers won the JV match, 25-12, 25-13.

Wilmington wins

The Lady Greyhounds knocked off Lakeview in nonregion action, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

“It’s always good to get a win, but the team continues to play sloppy,” Wilmington coach Amber Marett said. “Instead of finishing strong, we coast along and just play hard enough to win. That catches up with you when you play good teams.”

Cassidy Marett led the host Lady Greyhounds with 11 points, 18 assists, 10 digs and three kills. Abby Sotter was next with 10 points, 10 digs and five kills, while Katherine Clark collected seven markers and seven digs.

Tessa Sikora supplied six points, four kills and three blocks. Stephanie Parker delivered six points, six kills and five digs, while Lexi Ligo scooped up 10 digs with three points.

Wilmington lost the JV match, 25-18, 25-17.

Rachel Vernon recorded six digs and three points for the Lady Greyhounds and Amanda Lewis added three points and three digs. Alana Romeo scooped up five digs.
