Hey, Parents! Hey, Kids!
Want to take a photo with Santa?
Then be sure to stop in at the New Castle News on Thursday, Nov. 15, just before the Light-Up Night Parade begins in the downtown.
Santa Claus will make a special appearance at The News and has agreed to be photographed with every child — or kid at heart — who stops in to wish him a “Merry Christmas.” The photos will appear on our Web site — www.ncnewsonline.com — and in upcoming editions of the New Castle News.
Here’s a full schedule of what’s happening at The News for Light Up Night:
•Kids Can Color — While waiting in line to greet Santa, children can color and draw on special newsprint we will have plastered on our walls. They can also share their wish lists for Santa, who will take the notes with him to the North Pole once the parade ends.
•Live Entertainment — While parents, grandparents and kids walk through our business office, they will be serenaded with the sounds of the season from some top-notch local entertainers.
•Meet Gary Church — Popular New Castle News columnist and blogger Gary Church will be on hand. Stop in and say “hi” and take a photo with Gary, too.
•Free Cookies — Members of The News staff are whipping up their specialties for you to enjoy during your visit to our office.
•TextCaster, Digital Edition Sign-ups — If you sign up for both our free TextCaster service and a trial subscription to our digital edition, you will be eligible to win a $100 gift card to start your Christmas shopping off right!
•And, of course, Child and Adult Photo with Santa — Santa welcomes children and adults for photos from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
So, if you’re making a list of things to do downtown before the big Light-Up Night Parade begins, be sure to stop in at The News and tell Santa what you want for Christmas.
At the very least you’ll get your picture taken — even if you have been a bit naughty this year.

Nicole Delien’s mom hopes that for her daughter, 2012 will be a Christmas to remember. However, that could be a tall order. Nicole can recollect only three of the past 10 Yuletides. The 17-year-old former New Castle resident suffers from Kleine-Levin Syndrome. When an episode strikes, she will sleep between 17 and 19 hours a day for anywhere from 32 to 64 days.

Standing Room Only: City native’s film packs ’em in at local theater
Chris Pappas could not be happier with his hometown these days. The filmmaker and New Castle native known professionally as Cristos recently moved back to the area from Los Angeles so that he could make his movies here. His first effort, “Tunnel Vision,” had its local debut Friday and Saturday at the Westgate Cinemas Friday and Saturday.
