WEEKEND AT THE PARKS: Schedule of activities
New Castle News
MORAINE STATE PARK
On Saturday, visitors to the park will get the opportunity to go “On the Trail of the Pennsylvania Black Bear.”
The 2 p.m. program will be presented by a wildlife conservation officer from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Those who want to learn about this amazing creature, and find out where they are, may meet at the former restaurant located near the Davis Hollow Marina.

An evening pontoon cruise is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday on Lake Arthur.
After dark, Moraine State Park begins to transform. The crowds abate and the sounds begin to change.
Participants should meet the park naturalist at the Davis Hollow Marina office on the North Shore to learn about the park’s shift from day into night.
This program will take place upon one of Moraine State Park’s pontoon boats, so space is limited. A place can be reserved by calling the park office at (724) 368-8811. It can become cool on the lake in the evening, so jackets are recommended.
This free program is open to all ages.

On Sunday morning, visitors to the park are invited to “Discover Lake Arthur.”
The 3,225-acre lake is the crown jewel of Moraine State Park and has approximately 42 miles of shoreline to explore.
Those who would like to do so may meet the park naturalist at the McDanel’s boat launch on the North Shore to paddle miles of lakeshore and see Moraine from a different view.
This 9 a.m. session is a moderately strenuous kayaking program. Participants must be at least 18.
