NEW CASTLE —
Poland residents Joseph and Lynn Mike are announcing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Monica Nicole, to Joseph Nicholas Simko, son of Joseph and Karen Simko, also of Poland.
The future bride is a granddaughter of Josephine Scalzo of New Castle and the late Michael Scalzo.
The ceremony will take place during a 2 p.m. July 3, wedding Mass at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. Invitations will be issued for an evening reception to be hosted by the couple’s parents at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.
Miss Mike received her bachelor of science degree in respiratory care from the University of Toledo and is pursuing her master’s degree in higher education and administration. She is employed as a registered respiratory therapist for Akron Children’s Hospital at the Boardman campus and serves as a limited service faculty member in Youngstown State University’s respiratory care program.
The prospective groom graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts degree in communications. He is an intervention specialist for the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, having earned his special education credentials from Notre Dame College and is also the head ninth grade football coach for Poland Seminary High School.
