Sylvia E. Busby of 1438 Johnson St. is announcing the engagement of her daughter, Karlyn Marie, to Jarrod Wayne Gunther of 129 Cobb Drive.
He is a son of Wayne and Jeanann Gunther of 2701 Bryn Mawr Ave.
The proposal took place Jan. 13 on a carriage ride through Station Square and downtown Pittsburgh .
The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Union High School.
In 2007, she graduated as valedictorian with a bachelor’s degree in healthy and physical education from West Liberty University in West Virginia.
She is physical education instructor at Shenango High School. She is also employed full-time by the Lawrence County Association for Retarded Citizens, providing care for adults with special needs.
The future groom is a 2003 alumnus of Shenango High School. He is earning a degree in criminology and will pursue a career as a Pennsylvania State Trooper.
He attended the Barbizon Professional Model and Talent of Akron, as well as the International Model and Talent Association in 2003-04 for acting.
He has been employed by Hovis Truck and Auto Supply since 2002.
A wedding on Aug. 13, 2011, is being planned at First Presbyterian Church.
