NEW CASTLE —
Lincoln High School will present the play “I Hate Shakespeare” at 7 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday in the auditorium.
The play takes a comedic look at some of William Shakespeare’s greatest plays, such as “Hamlet,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Macbeth.” From zombies and talking cows to Jerry Springer and the Dating Game, it isn’t the Shakespeare studied in most high school English classes.
Leading the cast is Hamlet, played by Nick Valvano, who confronts a heckling audience member (Matt Maielli) who becomes part of the show.
Others in the cast include Kaitlyn Gebrosky (Lady Macbeth), Michael Fenechi (Jim Lange), Dominic Nocera (Ophelia and her brother Laertes), Anthony Rue (Macbeth), Alena Steele (Juliet), Autumn James (Juliet’s modern counterpart), Josh Cantanzariti (Banquo), Patrick Freed (Bill Shakespeare), Max Keally (Macduff), Hanna Forrester (Desdemona), Brooklyn Magill (Fleance), Mackenzie Yoho (the witches) and Taylor Gearhart (Queen Gertrude).
Playing assorted zombies and cheerleaders are Kaitlyn Stabryla, Jordan Gilchrist, Gemma Gatto, Sayde Morse and Taylor McCowin. Hanna Tervo plays a famed British historian.
Erin Parkinson is the director, assisted by Lori Hudeck.
There is no admission price, but donations will be accepted at the door.
