NEW CASTLE —
A North Hill man being sought on warrants for alleged drug offenses is facing more charges.
Michael P. Roberts, 33, of 139 E. Leasure Ave., allegedly had Xanax tablets when police found him at home a week ago.
On Jan. 7, police were helping the county adult probation and district attorney’s offices find Roberts. Police learned he was at his house and set up a permineter around it.
Officers arrested Roberts, who told them he had flushed a bag with less than a gram of heroin down the toilet.
He told police he also had kicked a scale under the couch and placed a wrapper containing six Xanax tablets between a stack of towels in the bathroom. He said he also had chewed about eight or nine 30-mg. roxycodone tablets, and he showed the officers the blue pill coating still on his teeth.
He told them he was ingesting about 20 of the roxycodone pills per day and was selling drugs to support his habit, according to police. Roberts told officers he was “doing” about a gram of heroin every morning.
Police seized $1,000 wrapped in a hair tie, and another stack of bills, about $1,000, that a woman in the house had hidden in her shirt.
When police searched the house they found the Xanax tablets in the towels, an additional scale and an owe sheet with names and dollar amounts next to them.
Roberts is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remains in the Lawrence County jail on $15,000 bond.
