NEW CASTLE


•Charged. Frank Tukalo, 34, of Poland, Ohio, was charged with simple assault and harassment for allegedly grabbing a man around the neck and punching him in the eye in an East Washington Street bar around 12:30 a.m. March 2. The man told police that after a scuffle between them, Tukalo ran out of the bar. Several patrons identified him to police.

•Burglary. Someone broke into a house in the 1300 block of Wilmington Avenue between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and stole about $3 worth of loose change.

•Accident. Police said a retaining wall surrounding a rental property in the 600 block of Arlington Avenue was hit about 6:20 a.m. Sunday by an unknown motorist.

•Accident. Police said a pickup truck, parked in the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue was hit by an unknown motorist before midnight Sunday. The truck was pushed into the closed garage door, damaging another pickup truck that had been parked inside the garage.

•Burglary. Police said a house in the 1100 block of Federal Street was ransacked between 1:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday A .22-caliber rifle was missing and the back door was damaged.

•Cited. Police charged Sean O’Brien, 27, of 1212 E. Cunningham Ave., with flight to avoid apprehension, loitering and prowling at night, and disorderly conduct. Officers were called at 1:40 a.m. Sunday and told O’Brien had damaged items inside his residence then left. Police observed O’Brien and chased him through backyards in the 900 block of Dushane Street.

 STATE

•Accident. Police said Ethan A. Rensel, 24, of Portersville was southbound on Breakneck Bridge Road, Perry Township, at 6 p.m. Friday when he rounded a curve and crested a hill at a high speed, then lost control of his car as he headed downhill. Officers said he left the road, went up an embankment before his car rolled over, spun and slid, coming to rest on its roof facing north. No injuries were reported. Police were assisted by Wurtemburg Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Portersville Emergency Medical Service. Rensel was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

•Forgery. Police charged David Halt of 949 Peach St., Ellwood City, with forgery, attempted theft by deception and bad checks after he tried to open a bank account at North West Savings Bank, Wampum on Feb. 21, using a forged check. He was arraigned before District Judge David Rishel and jailed in lieu of $25,000; bond. He is also being held on a $25,000 bond for a warrant issued by Ellwood City police.
