Man charged with theft of metal pipe

NEW CASTLE — A Lower East Side man has been arrested for allegedly stealing metal pipe.

New Castle police charged John Saloman, 27, who has addresses at 345 Shaw St. and 321 Crawford Ave., after they caught him Sunday night carrying bags with the allegedly stolen goods.

An officer reported he had seen a man walking on Whippo Street around 6 p.m. carrying three bags, one of which had copper pipe exposed.

The man ran toward Pine Street and into an alley, so the officer parked his car and walked around to look for him. He said he saw the man running through several alleys and chased him.

Multiple police officers responded to help look for him and he was found inside a garage.

Police then learned Saloman was wanted on a bench warrant.

They found the three bags he had been carrying inside a garage with a broken window in the 400 block of Pine Street. The bags contained numerous pieces of copper and brass piping and tools, police said.

Saloman is charged with theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and possessing instruments of crime.

He was lodged in the Lawrence County jail on his bench warrant.

District Judge Melissa A. Amodie set his bond at $2,500 for the new charges.

Are you concerned enough about the Heartbleed bug on the Internet to change all of your social media and website passwords?

Yes. It’s always a good idea to change passwords regularly anyway. I just have so many, I’m not sure where to start.
No. From what I’ve read, companies are still trying to figure out how to fix the flaw. The bad guys will just have access to my NEW passwords, too.
Not sure, but I blame Al Gore. He invented the Internet, right? How’s he going to get us out of this mess?
