On the Record: Today’s births, police items and district judge reports

•Burglary. Someone pried open the back door of Farone Brothers Restaurant on Wilmington Road Sunday night or yesterday morning and removed a safe from the office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Neshannock police at (724) 656-9300.

•Forgery and counterfeiting. Police said a counterfeit $20 bill was passed at Perkins Restaurant Saturday morning by an unknown individual.

•Burglary. About 30 feet of copper pipe was taken from a vacant house on East Euclid Avenue. Police said the break-in was discovered Sunday. They estimate the incident occurred about two weeks prior to the discovery.

•Accident. Police said Benjamin J. Hoppe of Maiden Blush Drive, New Wilmington, lost control of his vehicle while southbound on Old Pulaski Road about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, flipped over on the icy road and came to rest on the passenger side. No injuries were reported.


•Accident. Police said Kristy L. Bailey, 44, of Enon Valley, collided with Jeffrey J. Covelli, 43, of New Castle when Bailey — who was northbound on Smalls Ferry Road, North Beaver Township, about 8:30 a.m. Thursday — failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Columbiana Road and was hit by Covelli’s vehicle. Police said Bailey was cited for stop sign violation and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

•Accident. Police said Paxtyn M. Lyons, 16, of Enon Valley, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed after she lost control of her car while rounding a bend around noon Jan. 18. She was southbound on Brewster Road, North Beaver Township, and struck a guide rail. Police said she was taken to Jameson Hospital complaining of head and neck pain.

•Accident. Police said Andrew M. Pavia, 24, of New Castle, lost control of his vehicle and struck a pole on Route 19, Wilmington Township about 4:20 a.m. Friday. No injuries were reported. He was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

•Accident Police said Robert R. Domanski, 74, of New Wilmington, was eastbound on Route 422 in Franklin Township, Butler County, about 10:30 a.m. Friday when he lost control of his car while slowing to make a right turn. Police said the car struck a road sign No injuries were reported.

•Accident. Police said Katherine R. Black, 33, of New Castle — who was southbound on Interstate-79 in Muddy Creek Township, Butler County, about 2:20 p.m. Sunday — failed to yield to oncoming traffic while pulling from an on-ramp. She collided with William J. Schaffner, 54, of Meadville. Police said Schaffner’s car sustained minor damage but Black’s car was disabled and towed. No injuries were reported. Black was cited for failure to yield.


•Accident. Police said a New Castle snow plow, driven by Mark Kirkwood, 55, was trying to pull a vehicle stuck on ice at Syling and National streets about 9 a.m. Saturday and backed into a car driven by Rosemary Spielvogel, 22, of Eastbrook Road, who was southbound on National Street. No injuries were reported and police said both vehicles were drivable.

•Theft. Wires and a water meter were taken from a vacant house in the 300 block of East Wallace Avenue before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

•Attempted burglary. Police said someone tried to pry open the door of a house on West Terrace Avenue between 10 a.m. Jan. 14 and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 15. Police said they do not believe entry was gained.

•Burglary. Police said someone ransacked a vacant house in the 900 block of Warren Avenue before 10 a.m. Jan. 14. Officers said some tools were reported missing but it is not known if anything else was taken.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•Miracle J. Olinger, 32, of New Castle, two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of endangering the welfare of children, driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked, reckless driving and driving at an unsafe speed.

•Michael Evans Harris, 46, of Cranberry Township, driving under the influence.

•Richard Joseph Bruni, 37, of New Castle, two counts of robbery and one count each of terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Union Township police charged the following people:

•Albert S. Tedrow Jr., 25, of Ellwood City, retail theft and theft by deception.

•Ryan A. Waters, 22, of New Castle, theft of services-acquisition of services.

•Christopher T. Wilson, 21, of New Castle, retail theft.

State police charged the following people:

•Alex John Benkosky, 22, of New Castle, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, driving without a license, receiving stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle.

•Timothy Mark Clements Jr., 23, of New Castle, driving under the influence, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, theft from a motor vehicle and driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked.
