STATE

•Accident. Police said someone traveling east on Route 488 in Perry Township about 8:35 p.m. Thursday apparently lost control o f his vehicle and traveled off the road, striking and destroying and wooden flower plants in the front yard of a resident. The car then returned to the road and fled the scene.

NEW CASTLE

•Burglary. Police said a North Street resident returned home about 3:20 p.m. Friday to find her front door kicked in and several items missing. They were a 24-inch and a 30-inch gold chain each valued at $500, a 42-inch flat screen TV valued at $800 and two pit bull puppies valued at $500. Damage to the front door was set at $100.

•Burglary. Approximately $50 to $100 worth of costume jewelry was reported missing Saturday from the residence of a Morris Street woman. The victim told police she believes someone entered her home through the back door while she was speaking to a woman on her front porcch about 3 p.m. Friday.

•Burglary. Some took four full cans of gasoline totaling about 16 gallons from the garage of a Boyles Street resident overnight May 25. The investigating officer noticed that the neighboring garage also had been broken into. There was no report of anything missing from that building.

•Attempted burglary. Police said a North Cedar Street resident was awakened just after 4 a.m. Thursday by the sound of someone smashing glass. She turned on the lights and called 911. Police arrived to find the window pane of her back door broken, but they determined that the deadbolt lock on the door had prevented the person from gaining entry to the home.

•Criminal mischief. Someone broke an upstairs window at the home of a Highland Avenue resident sometime May 23. Police found a large rock in the front yard.

•Criminal mischief. Someone spray-painted the brick wall of an East Division Street resident sometime between May 23 and 24. Some bricks also had been broken out of the wall.
