NEW CASTLE

•Hit-and-run accident. Julie Marie Romanelli, 32, of New Castle was traveling west across the Mahoning Avenue viaduct at 5:20 p.m. Monday when her 2000 Chevrolet Venture was struck by another vehicle. Romanelli told police the car came around a bend and slid on the ice- and snow-covered road. She veered to the right in an effort to avoid the collision. Romanelli said a thin, white male in his late 20s with dark hair approached her, returned to his vehicle and drove toward Moravia Street. Police are looking for an older model, maroon Mercury or Ford with minor damage to the left side of the front bumper.

•Accident. Giavana Marie Cialella, 17, of New Castle was traveling east on the Route 422 bypass near the Martha Street overpass at 5:39 p.m. Monday. Police said she lost control of her 2004 Ford Expedition as a result of inclement weather. Her vehicle spun into the center median and struck a sign.

•Accident. Jessica Russell, 27, of Butler Avenue told police she was struck at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday by a vehicle while walking south near the intersection of Court and Walnut streets. Officers found Russell sitting in the middle of Walnut Street. She said a silver Pontiac, possibly a Grand Am, was traveling west on Court Street and hit her, causing her to flip onto the hood of the vehicle, roll off and onto the road. The vehicle left the scene and continued west on Court Street before turning left onto Milton Street. Police saw no visible signs of injury. Russell, who complained of pain, was transported to Jameson Hospital, where she was treated and released.

•Retail theft. Police said Sommer Lynn DiMuccio, 20, of New Castle removed merchandise totaling $135.97 from Walmart in Union Township at 4 p.m. yesterday without rendering payment.

•Accident. Police said Asa J. Davies, 17, lost control of his 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday on Old Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township. The vehicle struck a utility pole and a mailbox, but Davies was not injured.
