NEW CASTLE —
Firefighters responded to a trailer fire in Perry Township Friday afternoon.
According to Brian Partridge, assistant chief of the Wurtemburg-Perry Volunteer Fire Department, the call came in shortly before 2:30 p.m. for 5225 Portersville Road.
At the scene, firefighters discovered smoke coming from a double-wide trailer, Partridge said. He added crews were able to contain the fire to the living room of the trailer.
He said no one was injured, although one person was in the trailer at the time.
A state police fire marshal was summoned to investigate the blaze. Partridge said his department remained on the scene with the fire marshal until 5:30 p.m.
The name of the owner of the trailer was unavailable.
In addition to Wurtemburg-Perry firefighters, the Portersville, Ellwood City, Wayne and Franklin departments responded.

New Castle police are investigating a robbery on the South Side. A 22-year-old woman told police she had been walking in the alley between Hamilton Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 3:30 a.m. May 8 when someone grabbed her from behind and punched her numerous times in the left side of her face.

Man reports being robbed on East Side
New Castle police are investigating a report of robbery on Arlington Avenue. A 24-year-old man told police he had been in the 800 block, walking to a friend’s house, around 12:50 a.m. Saturday, when he was jumped by a man who stole his wallet and cell phone.
