 •Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 900 block of Dewey Avenue overnight Saturday to Sunday and stole more than 160 pills of various types and a black leather wallet containing various cards.

•Theft. a free-standing bronze fire pit was stolen from a yard in the 200 block of South Liberty Street and destroyed, between midnight Friday and noon Monday. Police have charged Imran Chaudhary, 18, of 225 S. Ashland Ave., with receiving stolen property in connection with the incident.

•Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 600 block of East Reynolds Street between midnight and 11:30 p.m. Saturday and stole construction equipment.

•Theft. A Troy-Built lawn tractor was reported stolen from a home in the 400 block of Bartram Avenue around 7:40 p.m. Sept. 18. The red tractor had been chained to the side of a duplex.

•Theft. A motorscooter was reported stolen from the 700 block of Cleveland Avenue between Friday and Sunday.

•Criminal mischief. A picture was knocked from the dining room wall to the floor  at a home in the 500 block of East Main Street around 3 a.m. Saturday. A hole larger than two inches was in the vinyl siding of the house outside. A large rock was found under a patio chair.

•Burglary. A resident in the 600 block of Forrest Street reported Sunday that someone broke into his home, ransacked a bedroom and stole his laptop computer. His cell phone also was smashed. A rock used to break the door was on a folding chair in the living room.

•Theft. A chrome hood piece was reported stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in a lot off Paul Street around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

•Burglary. A gray Craftsman lawnmower was stolen from a garage in the 900 block of Morton street overnight Saturday to Sunday.

•Criminal mischief. A tire was slashed on a pickup truck parked in the 500 block of East Moody Avenue between midnight Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

•Theft. An all-terrain vehicle was reported stolen around 5 p.m. Sunday from the 500 block of Montgomery Avenue. Police said two men were seen taking the vehicle, and it was found behind Progressive Field. Imran Chaudhary 225 S. Ashland Ave., was charged with receiving stolen property in connection with the alleged theft.

•Gunshots. Police were called to the 1100 block Dewey Avenue for a report of gunfire around 11:50 p.m. Thursday.

•Gunshots. Someone reported shots were fired in the 200 block of Laurel Boulevard around midnight Thursday.

•Gunshots. Two gunshots were heard in the area of Boyles Avenue at Blaine Street around 7:50 p.m. Thursday.

•Criminal mischief. Someone stole several items from a van parked in the 1000 block of Highland Avenue overnight Wednesday to Thursday.



•Assault. Police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of East Maitland Lane where several people were standing in a yard around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Jason Hess, 38, of 3858 High Hill Road, West Middlesex, allegedly fought with the police and had to be subdued  by a Taser. He was charged with assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment. He was arraigned by District judge David B. Rishel and lodged in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.


•Assault. Tiffany Marie Nunez, 27, of 438 Loop St., Ellwood City, is charged for allegedly biting a man’s arm while hew as visiting a home on Route 18 in North Beaver Township around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

•Burglary. Someone stole batteries, catalytic converters and a hand dolly from Dewitt Service on Route 488 in Perry Township on Aug. 29.

•Burglary. Someone kicked in a door of a house in the 300 block of Heckathorne Road in Scott Township between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday and stole jewelry.

•Burglary. Jewelry was reported stolen from a home in the 800 block of Moffatt Road in Hickory Township between 7 a.m. Sept. 16 and noon Friday.

•Drug arrest. Laurie Ann Hill, 48, of Lowellville, Ohio, was arrested and charged for driving under the influence and drug possession and traffic violations when troopers stopped her on Wilmington Road at Mitchell Road around 7 p.m. Aug. 30. Police  allege that she had suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her possession. A passenger, Jeremy Lerenzo Wayne Perine, 35, of New Castle, also was found to have crack cocaine, police said.  Charges are pending against Perine.

•Accident. Police said Kylea R. Breitenstein, 16, of New Castle, westbound on Harlansburg Route 108 in Hickory Township, about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, veered off the road as the vehicle in front of her stopped on the highway, prior to turning onto Independence Lane. Police said Breitenstein’s vehicle struck an embankment and rolled onto its side. No injuries were reported. Police said her GMC Silverado was towed from the scene and the driver was cited for traffic violations.

New Castle police have charged the following:

•Diane Upshaw, 59, of New Castle, harassment.

•Cory Brandon Phillips, 21, of New Castle, burglary, seven counts of robbery, three counts of terroristic threats, firearms not to be carried without a license, theft by unlawful taking and five counts of conspiracy.


•Terrance Renal Murphy, 21, of New Castle, charged by New Castle police with simple assault and harassment.


•Becky Zebley, 27, of Ellwood City, charged by state police with harassment.


•Cheryl Procopio, of Pulaski, charged by Cox's Corner with bad checks.
