NEW CASTLE —
Two Detroit men were arrested for alleged drug possession following a traffic stop in New Castle last week.
City police have charged 32-year-old Terry Ladale Brown and Kendall Deion Crutcher, 31, in connection with the incident.
Officers said they stopped a green pickup truck driven by Crutcher in the parking lot of a convenience store on Croton Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Thursday because he did allegedly did not use signals when changing lanes and turning.
Officers said they could smell marijuana as they approached the truck, in which Brown was the passenger. The officers found two plastic bags containing suspected marijuana, and a marijuana cigarette inside a potato chip bag in the back seat.
Police searched both men and Brown had $2,134 folded in a rubber band in various stacks in his pockets. Police confiscated the money and suspected marijuana and impounded the truck.
Both Crutcher and Brown are charged with possession and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Crutcher also was cited for a turning violation.
They were arraigned by District Judge Melissa A. Amodie, who set bond at $15,000 each.
