NEW CASTLE —
•Accident. Police said Catherine M. Roser, 18, of Enon Valley was westbound on Friendship Road at 1:15 a.m. Dec. 2 when she lost control on a sharp curve. The vehicle slid and left the road, rolling over several times down an embankment. Roser and a passenger, Shanelle C. Denes, 20, of Enon Valley, suffered what police called moderate injuries. Roser was cited for failing to drive at a safe speed.
•Criminal mischief. Someone scratched two vehicles with a sharp object while they were parked on Rocky Springs Road in Scott Township Dec. 2 or 3. Damage to each vehicle was listed at $1,000.
•Driving under the influence. Police said they stopped a vehicle on East Lincoln Avenue after several traffic violations were observed at 2 a.m. Nov. 24. The operator, Leigha Ann Carr, 25 of Norwood Avenue, showed signs of alcohol impairment, police said. She was placed in custody and taken to Jameson Hospital for testing.
•Driving under the influence. Police said Ryan Wright, 27, of Heckathorne Road was stopped on Route 388 at Currie Lane in Slippery Rock Township about 11:50 p.m. Nov. 23 for several traffic violations. Officers said Wright showed signs of alcohol impairment, was placed in custody and taken to Jameson Hospital for testing.
•Theft. Someone entered an unlocked vehicle on Clark Road in Little Beaver Township overnight Nov. 28 to 29 and took a pack of cigarettes.
•Accident. A 2008 Ford F350 hit two guard rails, a trash container and a street sign on Lawrence Avenue in Wayne Township about 12:15 a.m. Nov. 25. Police said the unknown operator got out of the truck and fled on foot.
•Hit-and-run. A vehicle hit a concrete flower bed in a parking lot on Portersville Road in Perry Township at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 and left.
•Driving under the influence. Police said they were investigating an accident along Dutch Ridge Road in Wayne Township at 5:40 a.m. Nov. 25 when they were approached by Eric Alan Sulkowski, 22, of Heinz Camp Road, Portersville. Officers said Sulkowski was under the influence of alcohol and they charged him.
•Driving under the influence. Police Brian Glenn Weber, 50, of Enon Valley was traveling on Old Enon Road about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 25 when he nearly struck a state police cruiser. Officers said they observed other traffic violations as well. Weber was stopped and police said he showed signs of alcohol impairment. He was taken into custody and taken to Jameson Hospital for testing.
•Identity theft. Someone made purchases via the Internet in July using the credit card number of a Wayne Township resident.
•Driving under the influence. Police said they stopped a vehicle traveling erratically along Route 224 near Winter Road in Union Township at 10:45 p.m. Nov. 26. They said the driver, Christinea Alanie Dunman, 47, of Dominick Lane, Edinburg, was determined to be impaired. She was taken into custody and taken to Jameson Hospital for testing.
•Criminal mischief. Someone wrapped feces in aluminum foil and threw it into the yard of a home on Maple Drive in Ellwood City between Dec. 1 and 3. Police said they also filled the victim’s mailbox with feces. Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call state police at (724) 598-2211.

Man charged in South Side break-in
A South Side man accused of breaking into a neighbor’s vacant house is facing charges. Alex John Benkosky, 21, of 821 S. Mercer St. faces one count each of burglary, criminal trespass, flight to avoid apprehension and criminal mischief.
Police use Taser in wanted man’s arrest
New Castle police say they used a Taser to arrest an Ellwood City man who was wanted on warrants. Police on Wednesday took 21-year-old Colby James Marshall of 5213 Ellwood Road into custody when they learned he was at a New Castle pharmacy.
Police: Man facing fourth DUI rams Shenango cruiser
Two weeks after a Shenango officer was killed during an attempted traffic stop, another fleeing driver rammed another township cruiser. A Scott Township man smashed into a cruiser early Friday while allegedly fleeing police.
Police: texting led to fatal accident
Police claim a woman’s texting on a cell phone contributed to a fatal accident earlier this month in Hickory Township. Laura E. Gargiulo, 42, of 2662 State Route 956, Volant, faces homicide by vehicle and other charges in connection with the May 7 death of Daniel E. Gallatin of Scott Township.
Hillsville man dead following shooting
A Mahoning Township man involved in a weekend shooting has died. Joseph Lupo, 50, of 4812 W. Main St. in Hillsville was pronounced dead Thursday by the Mahoning County, Ohio, coroner’s office.
Woman charged in fatal accident
A woman involved in a fatal accident in Hickory Township has been charged. Laura E. Gargiulo, 42, of 2662 State Route 956, Volant, faces charges of homicide by vehicle and others in the crash that led to the death of Daniel E. Gallatin of Scott Township.

Broken jaw leads to assault charge
A Pittsburgh man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking another man’s jaw in New Wilmington. Matthew Vincent Wagner, 22, was charged by New Wilmington police as the result of an incident early May 5 at the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house on Waugh Avenue.
South Side robbery being probed
New Castle police are investigating a robbery on the South Side. A 22-year-old woman told police she had been walking in the alley between Hamilton Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 3:30 a.m. May 8 when someone grabbed her from behind and punched her numerous times in the left side of her face.
Man reports being robbed on East Side
New Castle police are investigating a report of robbery on Arlington Avenue. A 24-year-old man told police he had been in the 800 block, walking to a friend’s house, around 12:50 a.m. Saturday, when he was jumped by a man who stole his wallet and cell phone.
