New Castle police charged the following people:
•David J. Stouffer, 35, of New Castle, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and resisting arrest.
•Virgil Eldon Coonfare, 66, of New Castle, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault while driving under the influence and driving under the influence.
•Avery Tyrell Bruce-McPhatter, 21, of New Castle, careless driving and two counts of driving under the influence.
•Paul Michael Druschel, 40, of New Castle, retail theft.
•Domenick J. Sansone, 55, of New Castle, public drunkenness and similar misconduct.
•Anthony Eugene Dennis Jr., 20, of New Castle, two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property and four counts of conspiracy.
•Gregory A. Brown, 34, of New Galilee, making a false report.
•Antron Talley, 35, of McKees Rocks, Pa., theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
•Tammy Lynn Smith, 45, of New Castle, forgery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
•Floyd Michael Hunter, 28, of New Castle, three counts of forgery and one count each of theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
•Christopher Kozura, 21, of New Castle, two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person.
•Richard Ralph Cotelesse, 31, of New Castle, access device fraud, theft from a motor vehicle, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

•Gary Kendall Bradow, 45, of Ellwood City, simple assault and harassment.
•Antonio Nino Riccio, 52, of Ellwood City, harassment.
•Bryan William Vincent, 31, of Ellwood City, two counts of driving under the influence.
•Timothy Ray Blair, 38, of Ellwood City, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

•Corey Allen Lee II, 21, of New Castle, charged by New Castle police with flight to avoid apprehension or trial, intent to possess a controlled substance, resisting arrest and defiant trespass.

Man charged with arson after his house burns
A Taylor Township man who allegedly doused his home with gasoline faces multiple charges of arson and assault. Jason P. Merlini, 39, of 309 Warner Alley was charged with six counts of arson, five counts of aggravated assault including one for domestic violence, one count of reckless burning and five counts of recklessly endangering another person.

‘Carelessness’ caused Overlook fire
The state fire marshal has determined a blaze at the Overlook Health and Rehabilitation Center was caused by carelessness. Trooper David Jungling issued his report Friday and said the blaze was determined to have been caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.

Police called to Halco Drive disturbance
An apparently intoxicated Halco Drive man drew a crowd Thursday night. New Castle police were called about 6:30 p.m. and found a 19-year-old man cutting his face and head with the razor blade of a utility knife.

Two injured in Mill Street, Taylor accidents
Two people were injured in a pair of accidents Thursday, New Castle police reported. One involved a car that went over an embankment off West Pittsburg Road in Taylor Township around noon.

Drug charges filed after raid
Police have charged four people arrested during a drug raid Wednesday in Union Township. Members of the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force executed a sealed search warrant at 27 Spring St. All four suspects live at that address, according to court records.

North Hill man hospitalized after crash
A New Castle man who hit a tree in Pulaski Township has been admitted to St. Elizabeth Health Center. According to Pulaski Township police, Adam Welsh, 36, of 202 E. Fairmont Ave., was eastbound on Route 422 about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when his pickup truck left the road.

East Side garage ‘total loss’ in fire
The New Castle police department fire investigator was called for a blaze at a garage. The three-bay garage at 626 Superior St. was a total loss, according to New Castle firefighters, who were called about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday. They remained at the scene until nearly 3 a.m.

Hearings in fatal crashes are postponed
A hearing for the woman accused of striking a police cruiser and killing a Shenango Township officer has been rescheduled. Kylee Gwen Barletto, 26, of 693 Hoover Road, will face a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. June 6. It had been scheduled for Thursday morning.

Shenango man accused of breaking into car
A Shenango man was arrested after he allegedly was caught breaking into a car on New Castle’s East Side. New Castle police charged Jessie Lauderbaugh, 23, of Highview Drive with fleeing from police, theft from a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling at night.
