•Theft. A license plate was stolen from a car parked in the 600 block of South Ray Street between midnight Monday and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
•Theft. A yellow two-door car was stolen from the 100 block of Patterson Avenue at 6 a.m. Monday.
•Theft. A silver Volkswagen Jetta was stolen from the 400 block of Norwood Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
•Accident. Police said William A. Callahan, 30, of 102 Wilder St., hit a stop sign around 10 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of West Washington Street. Callahan told police his car slid on a curve in the road. No injuries were reported.
•Accident. Police said Juan Searcy, 30, of 526 W. Washington St., went off the road and hit a fence at 405 E. Grant St. around 9:30 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.
•Accident. A Silverado pickup truck owned by the New Castle public works department went into a ditch around 1:50 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of South Ray Street. The driver, Donald Eugene Cade Jr., 42, of 321 E. Euclid Ave., told police he was trying to put the truck in reverse on Rear Franklin Avenue and did not see the ditch. No injuries were reported.
•Accident. Someone hit the bumper of a car parked in a driveway in the 1500 block of South Jefferson Street during the night Dec. 27 to 28 and left the scene, police said.
•Accident. Someone ran over the bushes in front of 543 E. Long Ave., around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. The damage extended to an overgrown empty lot and ended at 529 E. Long Ave. A red car also was damaged. Police later found a silver Jeep parked in a business lot on the South Side with pieces of a bush stuck in it and damage consistent with the damage to the red car. The Jeep’s registration information was unavailable, police said.
•Theft. Electronic games were stolen from a home in the 100 block of Phillips Place between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 27. Police charged Samantha Stoner, 22, of 109 Phillips Place, and Kevin Cross, 30, of 3412 Ellwood Road with theft and receiving stolen property, and Nicole Arnold, 26, of 916 Mount Jackson Road, with receiving stolen property.
•Criminal mischief. The owner of a car parked behind the New Castle Public Library reported key scratches made between 8 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. Dec. 27.
•Hit-and-run. A green truck hit an aluminum light pole in the area of Neshannock Village around 4:45 p.m. Dec. 26.
•Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 300 block of South Ray Street between 4 p.m. Dec. 20 and 11 a.m. Dec. 21 and stole tools, lighting fixtures, plastic pipe, a generator and four bathroom exhaust fans still in packaging. The intruder also cut a padlock off the garage door and stole an all-terrain vehicle and mini-bike.
•Burglary. A laptop computer and a camera were stolen from a home in the 500 block of Seventh Street in West Pittsburg between 2 p.m. Dec. 20 and noon Dec. 21.
•Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 1600 block of East Washington Street around 11:30 a.m. Dec. 21. Nothing was reported missing.
•Theft. Police said $520 was withdrawn from a Bank of America credit card account to purchase two GPS systems. The owner, a resident of North Cascade Street, said she never made such purchases. The matter was reported Dec. 26.
•Attempted burglary. The keys to a house in the 100 block of North Ray Street were reported stolen Dec. 25 and someone tried to use them to get into the house Dec. 26. The resident told police his alarm system sounded.
•Theft. A GPS, an EZ pass, $500 and various gift cards were stolen from a truck parked in the 100 block of South Ray Street Dec. 25. The owner said he awoke to a vehicle alarm.
•Burglary. Electronic games were stolen from a house in the 1800 block of Morris Street during the day Dec. 11.
•Burglary. Copper pipe was stolen from a house in the 500 block of Spruce Street Dec. 12.
•Burglary. An electronic game system and a laptop computer were stolen from a house in the 900 block of Marshall Avenue Dec. 12.
•Burglary. A flat-screen television and Sony PlayStation were stolen from a home in the 1300 block of East Washington Street Dec. 18.
•Criminal mischief. The front and rear tires were punctured on a van parked in the 1000 block of Pollock Avenue Dec. 16.

Jail gets third bomb threat
The Lawrence County jail received a bomb threat about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday — the third since Saturday. Prison board chairman David Gettings noted the caller said the same thing as the previous two times, that he was going to “come and blow the place up.”

Divers fish stolen truck from river
A stolen truck was fished out of the Mahoning River following a tip from a fisherman. North Beaver Township police and volunteer fire department, the New Castle Fire Department dive team and Brandon Rishel of the Lawrence County Dive Team were called in after a fisherman had seen a submerged vehicle Monday.

Man accused in rock beating
A New Castle man is accused of beating another man with a rock in an elevator. Police have charged David Joseph Perrine, 29, with aggravated assault in connection with the incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. June 12 in an apartment building on Wallace Avenue.

Teen to get mental health evaluation
A 17-year-old who threatened suicide has been taken into custody by Neshannock Township police. Officers were called at 2 p.m. June 12. The teen’s mother told officers her son had a handgun and was “really acting up.”

Teen arrested after demanding car keys
A teenager who demanded a couple turn over their car to him is now in police custody. Neshannock Township police said a 17-year-old New Castle resident entered a home in Lightner Place at 4 a.m. Saturday and demanded the keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Jail gets second bomb threat
For the second time in four days, the Lawrence County jail received a bomb threat. New Castle fire and police departments were summoned just after noon Tuesday and stood guard while the jail was searched.

Robbery charges withdrawn
Charges against Justin Anthony Barry, who was accused in a robbery, have been withdrawn. New Castle police had arrested Barry, 25, of Apt. F, 1214 Highland Ave., earlier this month and charged him with robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, theft and receiving stolen property.

Three more plead guilty in oxycodone ring
Three more New Castle residents pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of violating the federal drug laws.
Christopher Klingensmith, 38, of Vine Street, James Cracraft, 39, of Randolph Street and Thomas Klingensmith Jr., 40, of Bellair Drive, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy before U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton made the announcement Tuesday. -
South Side man faces gun, drug charges
A South Side man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on the city’s North Hill. Martel Lamar Webb, 19, of 199 Hamilton St. had been wanted by police on charges in a domestic assault case in May when police caught up with him.

Woman charged for assaulting 1-year-old
A New Castle woman was arrested and charged with the assault of a year-old child in Scott Township. Nicole Martin, 26, of New Castle was arraigned before District Judge David Rishel on a charge of simple assault. She was lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $1,000 bond.
