Man accused of stealing cash, lottery tickets

NEW CASTLE — A former employee of a Slippery Rock Township market has been charged with stealing from the business.

State police charged George Pennington, 47, of New Castle with theft and receiving stolen property after he allegedly defrauded Tic Toc Food Mart on Ellwood Road of $1,920 in cash and took four boxes of Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off tickets. The boxes had a face value of $300 each, police said.

Police said the fraud occurred when Pennington allegedly falsified bank deposit slips for the business, indicating funds had been deposited in the store’s account when they had not.
