•Accident. Police said Robert C. Swartwout, 20, of Renfrew, Pa., was westbound on Route 442 in Slippery Rock Township at 8 a.m. Thursday and hit the back of the car of Tyler P. Harbison, 20, of Renfrew, pushing it into the back of the truck of Justin K. Onder, 29, of Turtle Creek, Pa. Police said Harbison’s and Onder’s vehicles were stopped on the highway for a turning vehicle. Officers said Swartwout and Harbison reported minor injury. Swartwout was cited for following too closely.

•Accident. Police said the car of Gloria P. Schweitzer, 57, of New Castle, was westbound on Route 376 in Union Township at 9:20 p.m. July 6 and struck a deer. Her vehicle was towed, but no injuries were reported.

•Accident. Police said Carmen P. Monroe, 28, of Oakdale, Pa., was eastbound on Route 376 about 5 a.m. Wednesday in Shenango Township, hit a deer crossing the highway, causing the vehicle to leave the highway and come to rest in the median. No injuries were reported.

•Accident. Police said Donna Myers, 71, was northbound on Route 18 in Wilmington Township at 2:15 p.m. Friday when she left the road , struck a mailbox at 397 Wilmington Road, then struck a guide rail. Police said no injuries were reported. She was cited for careless driving.

•Theft. a purse was taken from a car parked at Kennedy Mill on Frew Mill Road, Slippery Rock Township, between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday. Police said the car’s window had been smashed.

•Theft. Items were taken from two vehicles parked at McConnell’s Mill parking lot in Slippery Rock Township between 5:10 and 6 p.m. Saturday. Police said the vehicles’ windows had been smashed.

•Criminal mischief. The door at Perry Elementary School, 295 Portersville Road, was damaged between 3 p.m. Wednesday and 5 p.m. Thursdady in an attempt to enter the building.


•Burglary. Medication was taken from a house in the 500 block of Waldo Street between 8:30 and 11:40 a.m. July 22. The door to the house also was damaged.

•Burglary. An old Kassnar .22-caliber rifle was reported missing from a house in the 400 block of East Lincoln Avenue, between 9 a.m. and noon July 22. The owner told police the weapon resembles an AR-15, but is worn out, missing parts and not safe to shoot.

•Burglary. Mugs and collectibles, valued at $400, were taken from a residence in the 300 block of Halco Drive between 8 a.m. June 1 and 11:30 a.m. June 7.

•Charged. James Thomas Stewart, 24, of 1109 Pin Oak Drive, was charged with simple assault, harassment and defiant trespass. He is in the Lawrence County jail on $1,000 bond following an apparent domestic disturbance Friday morning at Crestview Gardens


•Burglary. Two flat screen televisions, a computer and jewelry were taken from an Orchard Way house before Sunday.

•Scott Matthew Haley, 31, of New Castle, charged by Pulaski Township police with giving false identification to a law officer.
