STATE


•Accident. At 3:40 a.m. Friday on Route 65, Slippery Rock Township. Police said Gary L. Baxter, 66, of New Castle was northbound when a deer ran into his path. He was unable to avoid the deer and struck the animal, police said. Baxter was not injured, according to police.

•Accident. At 6 a.m. Friday on Interstate 376, Shenango Township. Police said Jeffrey L. Hazen II, 22, of New Castle was westbound when a deer ran into his path. He tried to avoid hitting it, but the deer struck the left side of Hazen’s car. After impact, the car slid onto the right side berm and came to rest just off the berm, police said. Hazen was not injured, according to police.

•Theft. A 2002 Ford Windstar van was stolen from Beaver Street in Wampum between April 23 and 24.

•Burglary. Multiple tools were taken from a truck, trailer and barn on Hogue Road, Slippery Rock Township, between April 24 and Thursday.

•Criminal mischief. Tires were punctured on multiple vehicles between Wednesday and Thursday on Route 551 in Little Beaver Township.

•Arson/criminal mischief. A flare was placed inside a vehicle, causing a fire, on Old Route 18 in New Beaver between April 20 and 21.
