STATE
•Attempted burglary. Between Feb. 21 and 23 at Mahoning Presbyterian Church, Skyhill Road, Pulaski. Police said someone damaged a large set of oak double doors while trying to get into the building.
•Accident. Police said Stephen C. Esposito, 18, of New Castle was driving east on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Townsip around 7:50 a.m. March 1 and slid on a snow-covered road and hit an embankment. He was not injured.
•Accident. Police said Maria L. Beckman, 42, of New Castle was traveling east on Route 422 in Shenango Township around 8:30 p.m. March 8 and struck a deer that crossed the road. Beckman was not injured.
•Accident. Police said Robert A. Watenpool, 75, of Ellwood City was stopped on Route 18 in North Beaver Township around 9:45 a.m. March 9 and attempting to make turn left onto Route 168. A sport utility vehicle driven by Joanne E. Irvine, 62, of Wampum, also northbound, struck the rear of Watenpool’s car. No injuries were reported.
•Found firearms. Two pieces of shotguns were found near the Little Neshannock Creek in Slippery Rock Township on March 10. Anyone with information should contact state police at (724) 598-2211.
•Accident. At 12:10 p.m. March 11 on Gerber Road, Wilmington Township. Police said Amanda M. Mickley, 22, of Volant was driving on Gerber Road in Wilmington Township around 12:10 p.m. March 11 when her car went off the road and hit a tree. No injuries were reported.
SHENANGO TOWNSHIP
•Accident. Police said Robert McCormick, 16, of Princeton Road pulled onto New Butler Road from Hoover Road around 5:15 p.m. March 9 and was hit broadside on the driver’s side door by a vehicle driven by Sheryl Goss, 49, of Kinsman, Ohio. McCormick’s sport utility vehicle turned on its side. A person in McCormick’s vehicle was transported to Jameson Hospital, police said.
•Accident. John Glomb, 54, was traveling west on the Route 422 Bypass around noon March 10 and struck a deer near the Pennsylvania Avenue overpass. Glomb was not hurt.
•Accident. Police said George T. Downs, 24, of Coraopolis and Allan E. Scott, 27, of 2031 Eastbrook Road both were westbound on New Butler Road around 5:40 p.m. March 11. As Scott was turning into a driveway, his vehicle was struck from behind by Downs’ vehicle. No injuries were reported.
•Accident. Police said Garry L. Houk, 70, of Game Farm Road was driving east on Hollow Road around 7:50 a.m. Thursday and as he entered Ellwood Road, his car was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Joseph Gary Senko, 25, of Rose Stop Road.

•Howard Lee Haid, 56, of New Castle, charged by the Lawrence County district attorney with waste or discarded materials violation.
•Mark Anthony Brown Sr., 39, of New Castle, charged by the New Castle police with intent to possess a controlled substance, adulterating or misbranding any controlled substance, driving without a license and driving with no rear lights.

•Matthew Goodrich, 31, of New Castle, charged by Shenango Township police with retail theft.

Neshannock Township police charged the following:
•Jonnie Marie Klingensmith, 39, of New Castle, burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault, terroristic threats and intimidating a witness or victim to withhold testimony.
•Shannon Raquel Hooks, 42, of New Castle, burglary, simple assault, terroristic threats, criminal trespass and intimidating a witness.
•Albert Scott Tedrow Jr., 24, of Ellwood City, burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, intimidating a witness or victim and two counts of simple assault.

Police: texting led to fatal accident
Police claim a woman’s texting on a cell phone contributed to a fatal accident earlier this month in Hickory Township. Laura E. Gargiulo, 42, of 2662 State Route 956, Volant, faces homicide by vehicle and other charges in connection with the May 7 death of Daniel E. Gallatin of Scott Township.

Hillsville man dead following shooting
A Mahoning Township man involved in a weekend shooting has died. Joseph Lupo, 50, of 4812 W. Main St. in Hillsville was pronounced dead Thursday by the Mahoning County, Ohio, coroner’s office.

Woman charged in fatal accident
A woman involved in a fatal accident in Hickory Township has been charged. Laura E. Gargiulo, 42, of 2662 State Route 956, Volant, faces charges of homicide by vehicle and others in the crash that led to the death of Daniel E. Gallatin of Scott Township.

Broken jaw leads to assault charge
A Pittsburgh man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking another man’s jaw in New Wilmington. Matthew Vincent Wagner, 22, was charged by New Wilmington police as the result of an incident early May 5 at the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house on Waugh Avenue.

South Side robbery being probed
New Castle police are investigating a robbery on the South Side. A 22-year-old woman told police she had been walking in the alley between Hamilton Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 3:30 a.m. May 8 when someone grabbed her from behind and punched her numerous times in the left side of her face.

Man reports being robbed on East Side
New Castle police are investigating a report of robbery on Arlington Avenue. A 24-year-old man told police he had been in the 800 block, walking to a friend’s house, around 12:50 a.m. Saturday, when he was jumped by a man who stole his wallet and cell phone.

Men riding four-wheelers help catch burglar suspects
Two men on four-wheelers helped New Castle police catch two Remacor burglary suspects. Brian John Scott, 26, and Charles John Mulroy II, 32, both of New Galilee, are accused of breaking in through a hole in Remacor’s fence to steal about 200 feet of wiring, phone line and pipe around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Ellwood City club receives citation
An Ellwood City club has been cited for gambling activities. The Pennsylvania Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited the Ellwood City Saxon Club at 901 Millview St.

Police arrest South Side burglar suspects
A South Side man and a male juvenile are facing charges for allegedly trying to break into two houses. New Castle police reported the incidents occurred around lunchtime Tuesday.
