STATE

•Accident. Police said Christopher M. Smith, 19, of New Castle was eastbound on West Washington Street in Union Township at 2:15 p.m. Saturday when his 1998 Pontiac Sunfire collided with a 1989 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight operated by Tammy L. DeGitz, 38, of New Castle, who was entering West Washington from Scotland Lane. Three minors in DeGitz’s vehicle — ages 13, 11 and 7 — were not injured, nor was Smith. Police said that DeGitz sustained minor injury but was not transported to a hospital.

•Accident. Police said Eileen L. Harding, 71, of New Castle was westbound on West State Street in Union Township at 1:05 p.m. Saturday when her 1998 Mercury Tracer collided with a 2008 Honda Civic operated by Anthony Mottle, 65, of New Castle, who had pulled into Harding’s path at the intersection of West State and Grandview Avenue. Mottle was not injured. However, Harding and a passenger in her car, 47-year-old Susan Harding of New Castle, both sustained minor injury, according to police, and were transported to Jameson Hospital by Noga Ambulance.

•Accident. Police said Katrina M. Johnston, 40, of New Castle was backing out of a parking space at 8:50 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of a Union Township business when her 2006 Chevrolet Impala struck a 2005 Toyota Corolla. Police said Johnston left the scene without providing information.

•Accident. Police said Christopher A. Burns, 26, of Ellwood City was northbound on Oswald Street in Wayne Township at 1:17 p.m. Saturday and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. His 1999 Buick Century traveled across the road and began to spin before going over an embankment and striking a utility pole. Burns, police said, attempted to drive through the yard where his vehicle had come to rest, but got stuck in the snow and left the scene on foot.

•Accident. Police said a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was stopped at a traffic light on Route 224 in Union Township at 12:30 p.m. Saturday when it was struck in the rear by a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Police did not release the names of the drivers.

•Harassment. Police said Jennifer Ann Park of 226 N. Vine Street and Heather Marie Barkey of 282 Arthur Drive, Volant, were arguing at 3 p.m. Tuesday and that each reportedly struck the other.

•Criminal mischief. Someone did about $150 damage to a mailbox and post at a South State Line Road, North Beaver Township, home between 12:01 and 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

•Theft, access device fraud. Someone used the ATM card of a 25-year-old New Castle man to withdraw $300 from his account at a Neshannock Township ATM between Feb. 28 and Tuesday.

•Theft. A known male took several items from the home of a West Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City, woman between Thursday and Friday.

•Public drunkenness. Police said Richard Brady Jones, 61, of New Castle was discovered to be under the influence of alcohol at 7:30 p.m. Friday when he arrived at a Union Township store.
