On the Record: Today’s births, police items and district judge reports



To Jackie and Josh Dierickx of New Castle, a son on March 25, 2014, at Horizon Hospital, Farrell.



•Theft. A vehicle identification number plate was stolen from the dashboard of a car in the 1700 block of Highland Ave. between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday.


•Accident. About 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on West State Street, Union Township. Police said Mary A. Huesken, 75, of Poland, Ohio, was exiting Westgate Plaza onto West State Street. After stopping at the intersection, police said, she began moving and struck William A. Sphar, 68, of New Castle who was walking in front of her vehicle on the north berm, police said. Sphar was treated at Jameson Hospital and released.

•Accident. About 4 p.m. Tuesday on West State Street at the intersection of Conkle Avenue, Union Township. Police said Madison M. Conti, 17, of New Castle was traveling east and struck a vehicle, which was slowed in traffic, in the rear. The other vehicle was driven by Beverley A. Buzard, 50, of Portersville. Police said she was treated at Jameson Hospital and released. Officers reported a juvenile passenger suffered a minor injury and was taken to Jameson. Police charged Conti with following too closely.

District judges

•Morgan M. Bertram, 22, of New Castle, charged by New Castle police with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft of property lost by mistake.

•Janale M. Fauzey, 24, of New Castle, charged by the Pennsylvania Office of Inspector General with fraud in obtaining food stamps or assistance.

•Aaron Michael Crouch, 24, of Ellwood City, charged by Ellwood City police with pet confinement and control violation.

•James Kent Jr., 28, of New Galilee, charged by the Lawrence County sheriff with fleeing or attempting to elude officer, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked, driving at an unsafe speed and reckless driving.

•Brian Lee Snyder, 50, of New Castle, charged by state police with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of disregarding traffic lane, careless driving and failure to use safety belt.

•Patrick S. Szalankiewicz, 33, of Pulaski, charged by Shenango Township police with intent to possess a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Scott A. McGrath

•Torin C. Medure, 20, of New Castle, charged by New Wilmington police with four counts of driving under the influence and one count each of minor prohibited operating with alcohol, accident damage to unattended vehicle or property, purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor, driving at an unsafe speed and possession of marijuana.

Neshannock Township police charged the following people:

•Nicholas M. Byers, 58, of New Castle, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

•Raven Ratasha Hill, 33, of New Castle, two counts of driving under the influence, three counts of no rear lights and one count of disregarding traffic lane.
