NEW CASTLE —
A 20-year-old Ellwood City man has been charged in the burglaries of eight homes last year.
Alexander Tyler Stillwagon of 228 Portersville Road, has been charged by state police with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief involving seven burglaries in Lawrence County and one in Mercer County.
He is lodged in Lawrence County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
According to court documents, the burglaries were committed last summer. They occurred:
June 12 in the 200 block of Vinegar Valley Road, Wayne Township; June 14 in the 2000 block of Leesburg-Volant Road, Springfield Township, Mercer County; June 22 in the 700 block of Barkley Road, Perry Township; June 25 in the 1000 block of Bodziach Road, Hickory Township, and in the 3000 block of Countyline Road, Slippery Rock Township; June 26 in the 100 block of Briar Hill Road, Hickory Township and the 1000 block of Dougherty Road, Shenango Township; and July 7 in the 100 block of Reiber Lane, Hickory Township.
Police said Stillwagon did not act alone in the burglaries. One other man was involved in all the burglaries and a different man was involved with three of them. The other two men were arrested previously.
Most of the items stolen were flat screen TVs, jewelry and cash, according to police. A semi-automatic rifle was taken from one home and a .38 caliber revolver was taken from another home, police said.
Nothing was taken in one of the burglaries because the resident was home at the time and the men fled.
