District Judges: Listings for Nov. 2

NEW CASTLE — Melissa A. Amodie

•Edward J. Dempsey, of New Castle, charged by New Castle’s code enforcement department with failure to cut weeds or grass.

•Russell Robert Barr, 25, of Wampum, charged by the Lawrence County district attorney with intent to possess a controlled substance and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•Terri Alaasar, 52, of New Castle, disorderly conduct.

•Eugene Ferrante, 53, of New Wilmington, disorderly conduct.

•Khyana O. Fitzpatrick, 24, of Sharon, harassment.

•Joseph Oliva, 49, of New Castle, burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.

•Mark Anthony Brown, 39, of New Castle, acquiring or obtaining possession of controlled substances by misrepresentation.

•Stuart M. Bartoshek, 20, of New Castle, charged by state police with intent to possess a controlled substance, turning movements and required signals violation and failure to use safety belt.

•William Robert Swagger, 17, of New Castle, charged by state police with harassment.

David B. Rishel

•Mylinda Ann McDanel, 17, of New Castle, charged by state police with harassment and purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

Shenango Township police charged the following people:

•Charles M. Turok, 66, of New Castle, address signs violation.

•Douglas Malcolm Houk, 54, of New Castle, address signs violation.

•David George Hase, 61, of Fombell, careless driving and two counts of driving under the influence.

Scott A. McGrath

•George William Burns, 31, of Pulaski, charged by the Pennsylvania Game Commission with violating the rules and regulations of the commission.

Neshannock Township police charged the following people:

•Kathy Ann Currie, 50, of New Castle, retail theft.

•Sean Patrick Corcoran, 29, of New Wilmington, driving at an unsafe speed violation and two counts of driving under the influence.

  • Barletto.jpg Hearings in fatal crashes are postponed

    A hearing for the woman accused of striking a police cruiser and killing a Shenango Township officer has been rescheduled. Kylee Gwen Barletto, 26, of 693 Hoover Road, will face a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. June 6. It had been scheduled for Thursday morning.

  • Shenango man accused of breaking into car

    A Shenango man was arrested after he allegedly was caught breaking into a car on New Castle’s East Side. New Castle police charged Jessie Lauderbaugh, 23, of Highview Drive with fleeing from police, theft from a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling at night.

    Four people were arrested and drugs and a gun were confiscated Wednesday when police raided a house in Union Township. Union Township police, with the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force and New Castle police special response team and narcotics unit, served a sealed search warrant at 27 Spring St. just before 6:30 a.m.

    New Castle police have arrested a South Side man for his alleged role in a convenience store burglary. Alex John Benkosky, 21, of 821 S. Mercer St., is accused as an accomplice in the March 26 break-in at the Country Fair on Croton Avenue.

  • Man accused of cutting woman

    A New Castle man is accused of allegedly assaulting a Crestview Gardens woman. Police said Dajoi Taylor, 19, of 509 W. North St. allegedly hit an 18-year-old woman in the cheek with a purple eyebrow razor and pulled the weave out of her hair during an encounter around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

  • Vacant house burns on South Side

    A vacant South Side house burned Monday morning. New Castle firefighters were called at 12:50 a.m. to 510 Galbreath St. They said the structure “was fully involved” when they arrived and flames could be seen on all four sides of the building.

  • Man reports being pistol whipped

    A Detroit man reported to New Castle police he had been pistol whipped by two men in Crestview Gardens. The man told police the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Wednesday on Parkwood Court.

  • Cleaners cause fire in vacant Halco unit

    Lawrence County Housing Authority employees cleaning a vacant unit sparked a blaze Monday, according to city firefighters. The fire just before noon in the Halco Drive apartment caused $10,000 damage to the kitchen, they said.
