Police

STATE

•Harassment. A Shaffer Road, Slippery Rock Township, resident reported having received harassing phone calls at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

•Accident. Police said Kenneth F. Goehring Jr., 37, of New Brighton was westbound on Route 288 in Wayne Township at 12:59 p.m. Thursday when he failed to negotiate a curve on his 1982 Kawasaki Spectre 750. The bike fell onto its left side and slid off the road and down an embankment. Goehring sustained moderate injury, police said, and was taken to Ellwood City Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday that he had been transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital, but declined to say which one.

•Accident. Police said Albert W. Boots, 65, of Ellwood City was northbound on State Line Road in North Beaver Township at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his 1984 GMC triaxle truck, causing it to go off the east side of the road. The vehicle rolled onto its side, but Boots was not injured.

•Theft. Known males trespassed on the property of Mayberry Sand and Gravel on Route 18 in North Beaver Township on Thursday and Friday, taking five pieces of eight-inch steel pipe, each 10 feet long. Charges are to be filed.

•Burglary. Someone entered the garage of an Old Route 19, Scott Township, resident between noon Oct. 19 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday and took a .22 caliber revolver.

•Accident. Police said Harry W. Engle, 42, of Ellwood City was southbound on River Road in Perry Township at 5:20 p.m. Thursday when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Route 488. Engle’s 1994 Honda Civic collided with a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue operated by Brooke Hoffman, 33, of Ellwood City, who was eastbound on Route 488. Neither driver, nor a 1-year-old child in Hoffman’s vehicle, was injured.

•Burglary. In a report released yesterday, police said someone entered Famous Footwear in Union Township at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 and took a pair of shoes.

•Attempted burglary. In a report released yesterday, police said someone tried to gain entry to a home on Route 317, North Beaver Township, between Oct. 2 and Oct. 9.

•Drug paraphernailia. Lori E. Schoettker, 46, of 435 Thorn Hill Drive was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when police found a crack pipe in her pants at 1:20 p.m. Sunday on Route 108 in Scott Township. She was a passenger in a car driven by a suspect in an attempted robbery in Butler County.

•Harassment/disorderly conduct. Police said R. Eric Montgomery, 45, of 125 Annette Drive was cited after threatening a 26-year-old New Castle man inside a Hickory Township business at 9:58 p.m. yesterday.

•Hit-and-run. Someone struck two mailboxes on Frew Mill Road, Slippery Rock Township, at 12:57 a.m. today and fled the scene.

NEW CASTLE

•Burglary. Several electronics items were stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Taylor Street, sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 18. Police said someone damaged the rear door in an attempt to open it, but used an open window to gain access. Stolen from the house were a DVD player and movies, PlayStation 2 game system and videos and a Nintendo Wii game system and videos. The residence was dusted for fingerprints and the investigation continues.
