Police

STATE

•Accident. Mahoning Township. Police said a Mercury Cougar pulled from the parking lot of Nite Trax at 7 p.m. July 15, colliding with a pickup truck driven by Matthew P. McCoy, 36, of Beach City, Ohio, who was eastbound on Route 224. Police said the 17-year-old driver of the Cougar fled, heading west on Route 224. Police did not release the name of the driver, identified as a Youngstown resident. Officers said no injuries were reported.

NEW CASTLE

•Vehicle theft. Police were told a silver, 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit was taken from Crestview Gardens between midnight Monday and 1:13 a.m. Tuesday. Anthony M. Lombardo, 38, of 504 W. Cherry St., who had rented the vehicle through Enterprise Rent-A-Car on Grant Street, told police he had left the car — with its keys in the ignition — in the parking lot while he ran into an apartment “for a minute.” He said when he returned, the car was gone. He reported neighbors had told him it had been taken by “kids” who took it on a joyride “and would be right back.” Lombardo told police he had waited for a while for the kids to bring the car back but they did not.

•Theft. A power washer was reported taken from the shed of a house in the 100 block of West Wabash Avenue between 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Police were told the washer does not work.

ELLWOOD CITY

•Theft and criminal mischief. Police said an AM/FM CD/MP3 player and personal identification were taken and the interior of a vehicle damaged overnight Saturday while the car was parked in the former Eckerd Drug Store parking lot on Fifth Street.

•Burglary. Various items were reported taken from a house in the 300 block of Fourth Street. Officers said the house was broken into overnight Friday.
