Police

ELLWOOD CITY

•Burglary. Police, called to Hall Industries, Industrial Park, said the building had been entered between 2 a.m. and midnight March 25. Police and a dog searched the building but nothing was determined to be missing.

•Burglary. Police were told a portable DVD player with two monitors, several DVDs and a lock box containing $200 was taken from a Loop Street house before 11 p.m. March 25.

•Burglary. Police said a vacant house in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue that is in foreclosure by Wells Fargo Bank was entered before 10 a.m. March 25. Police said nothing was taken but $500 worth of damage was done to the front and rear doors.

•Theft. Bedding, valued at $200, was reported taken from a laundromat in Ellport before 9:45 p.m. March 25. The victim told police she had put her bedding in a washing machine and left the facility while the wash was in progress. The items were gone when she returned.

•Burglary. Jewelry, a television, a VCR player, DVDs and a dresser were reported taken from an apartment in the 700 block of Crescent Avenue. The burglary was reported March 26.

•Accident. On Fifth Street. Police were told that a 2000 Ford Taurus was damaged while it was parked in a lot behind a house in the 100 block of Fifth Street. The damage was reported at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

STATE

•Accident. On Route 18, New Beaver Borough. Police said two vehicles collided at 2:15 p.m. Friday when Matthew P. Spielvogel, 22, of Ellwood City was following too closely behind a truck driven by Andrew J. Spagina, 36, of Wampum and was unable to stop when Spagina slowed down. Spagina was treated at Jameson Hospital and released. Spielvogel was cited for following too closely.

NEW CASTLE

•Burglary. Two cases of beer and a car stereo/CD player were reported taken from a vehicle that had been parked in a garage in the 900 block of Adams Street. The victim told police he had parked his vehicle at 10 p.m. Thursday. When he went out at 7:30 a.m. Friday, he said the overhead door was open and the vehicle had been entered and ransacked.

•Theft. Four checks and tools were reported taken from a pickup truck parked at Steinbrink Place between March 26 and 2 p.m. Friday.

•Burglary. Jewelry, credit cards, a checkbook and $250 in change was reported taken from a house in the 500 block of Taylor Street between 8 and 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
