NEW CASTLE —
Did you know you could make your own sports drink at home using only four ingredients?
I didn't, until I watched the following video on the Runner's World website. After clicking the link, choose the video on the right titled, "Make Your Own Fuel."
http://www.runnersworld.com/video/0,8052,s6-22-0-6,00.html?bcpid=780941107001&bckey=AQ~~,AAAAABjSC4E~,YBF36HfcFnaRerhEk9cYL4ytcc-AwaCj&bclid=1515735608&bctid=1741359703001
The process explained in the video is simple and it takes less than five minutes to complete.
To make your own sports drink, first fill a glass with 16 ounces of water. Then, add two tablespoons of honey and 1/8 teaspoon of table salt. Squeeze in lemon or lime juice and stir.
The video also includes food suggestions for mid-run refueling. If you like to run, you may find the beginning of the video helpful. If not, just skip to the 2:15 mark.
I find the Runner's World website to be a great source of information for not only runners, but for anyone who exercises regularly. Visit the site at http://www.runnersworld.com/.
Happy refueling!
