NEW CASTLE — Happy Wednesday!

I'm in a pretty good mood today as I just signed up for my first half marathon. I will be running the Pittsburgh Half on May 5, 2013, and I will be running for a reason. I am raising money for the Animal Rescue League (ARL) Paws Over Pittsburgh.

OK, that’s out of the way. Now let's get to the food.

Last night, I watched "Cupcake Wars" on the Food Network. I love cupcakes. If you read my blog regularly, you know I love a variety of foods, just add cupcakes to the list. I've never made a cupcake from scratch and know next-to-nothing about mixing this flavor with that flavor and coming up with something someone would actually want to eat. But, I have eaten a lot of cupcakes, and thus I feel I should be a judge on the show.

Haha! I wish!

 Curious about making a cupcake from scratch, I took to the web following the show. I want to try baking a unique cupcake, something bacon-flavored. I don't really even like bacon, but it sounds interesting. Plus, I can then justify eating the cupcake for breakfast.

 So, I will be going tomorrow to buy the ingredients to bake a ... Maple Bacon Cupcake! (Get the recipe HERE.)

 Who knew the website, "Bacon Today," existed? They even sell shirts. People must be serious about their bacon.
