Courtney Caughey: Snacking done right

NEW CASTLE — Are you constantly searching for healthier snacks? I am always on the lookout for snacks that are both delicious and nutritious.

If you're like me, I think you'll enjoy this article from Active (which is a great and informative site), "Learning to Snack Strategically."

Healthy snacks suggestions include Greek yogurt, of which I'm a huge fan, almonds, and cottage cheese.

The article is written by nutrition student and aspiring Registered Dietian, Amy Bortnick. I mention her because she writes a fabulous blog entitled, "Up Early with All Things Amy." Be sure to take a look at her recipes page. There's some good stuff posted there including a recipe for Apple Cinnamon Protein Muffins.

If you like to prepare your own snacks, visit "Oh She Glows," a site I have mentioned in previous posts. Check out this recipe for your very own homemade Fruit-on-the-Bottom Protein Peanut Butter. The photo totally makes my mouth water!

Still craving fries, onion rings, something traditionally greasy that doesn't really need to be greasy? Don't worry, here's a solution for that.

Do you have a snack recipe that you want to share? Email me at court959@yahoo.com.

Happy snacking!
